Salty liquid dripped down her cheeks, each droplet a distant memory.
They burnt her skin, imprinting scars no eye would see.
Each day a living hell, leaving her helpless and weak, the pain and fury relentless to go sleep.
It kept her awake, the idea that she could one day escape, leaving behind all of this decay.
So she found a way to cut a smile onto her face.
Using pills to stitch together the few parts of her which had remained.
She knew now one is able to walk trough hell with a smile, your regrets growing weaker with each mile.
She is on her way back to him, knowing he’d be able to bring life back to her now cold skin.

lounay, I just came across your blog, and your poetry is absolutely beautiful. I’ve always loved it perhaps not always of the words themselves written on the page, but for the way they play across your lips. this poem made me empathize, so. so much. keep writing, and sending love ❤
